US Natural Gas collection causing ruined drinking water?

Does drilling for Natural Gas in US cause health problems and deaths for local residents? Are politicians in Pennsylvania and other US State taking bribes from coal, oil, and natural gas companies to act in the best interest of energy companies, not US citizens?

RussiaToday April 26, 2010An increasingly widespread method of extracting natural gas from the earth is being blamed for leaving whole communities in the U.S. without clean drinking water. The process, called 'fracking', involves millions of gallons of water mixed with chemicals and sand being pumped deep underground. The consequence is the release of trapped natural gas. While financially it may be a major breakthrough for the massive energy companies involved, the people living near the plants are afraid of what now comes out of their tap.
