MANKATO, Minn. -- A former Minnesota police officer has been sentenced to probation and a $200 fine after pleading guilty to faking the arrest of an 18-year-old woman and asking her to show her breasts.

Steven Patrick Boyle, 23, worked part time for the police department serving Amboy and Vernon Center at the time of the incident last July. Boyle resigned in August.

According to court documents, Boyle told the 18-year-old woman she would be released if she flashed her breasts. He was in uniform and driving a squad car at the time.

Assistant Blue Earth County attorney Chris Rovney says Boyle was sentenced for just a misdemeanor crime, but that it will be difficult for him to get a job on a police force again.

“He’s not ever going to be a cop in Minnesota again,” Rovney said. “I’m pretty much assured of that.
