The "Kick-Dog" in most group relationships
Image [stolen from here]
Families, at work, social groups, friends etc., we can all identify who is the Kickdog. The kick dog will absorb all the hostility, venting, blame, and abuse for others, that is their perceived purpose. If you are the kickdog, you enable others to make you so.
It may take constant vigilance to not be the kickdog and undoing your role could mean loss of family, work, romantic, social, and other relationships.
Human nature isn't always pretty.
