Looking Back at the Good Ole (Bad) Days


If you told your unwed daughter, mother of 3 children at age 16, about birth control, you the parent could face a year in jail, or as they called it, the "Workhouse."

The above story was in The Cleveland Press, Tuesday, November 26, 1963. JFK, John Fitzgerald Kennedy, was killed in Texas, and the nation was still in mourning when this story came out. Click on pick for larger view of photo.

I saw the scanned newspaper text in much greater detail. It is amazing to see the floating type, errors, the mill of the paper, and in imagining how that paper was printed at speed back in Ohio in 1963.
