SLAPP
Strategic lawsuit against public participation
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
A Strategic Lawsuit Against Public Participation ("SLAPP") is a form of litigation filed by a large organization or in some cases an individual plaintiff, to intimidate and silence a less powerful critic by so severely burdening them with the cost of a legal defense that they abandon their criticism. The acronym was coined in the 1980s by University of Denver professors Penelope Canan and George W. Pring. One marker of a SLAPP suit is whether the costs outweigh the claimed damages by a large amount, for instance, damages of a few hundred dollars and costs in the tens of thousands. Lawyers are thought to be particularly conflicted in SLAPP suits, since a marginal case can lead to high legal charges, and they are encouraged to run up costs by their clients.

PERMISSION TO FORWARD IS GRANTED, PLEASE GIVE THIS THE WIDEST POSSIABLE DISTIRBUTION POSSIABLE.
To All:
We are at crunch time on the D.C. Rally 2007, and I just wanted to point out a few things.
1. If we do not get enough of a showing for this Rally the Congress and other officials will look at this as saying that there is not a problem. And nothing will get fixed.
2. The Dept of Human Services will say "SEE, we were right" and they will up the heat and cause more damage to families.
3. If we fail, it will cause harm to even more families.
4. We, (and that means everybody,) have a once in a life time chance to help in this, the biggest civil rights Rally in many years. And we must prevail on this. Please Help and do what you can.
So what I am saying to you is we need everyone's support and help. We need to join together and forget the problems between ourselves and work toward the greater good and that being the Government insertion into the private lives of all of us. We need to agree to disagree on certain issues but agree to work together on the issues we agree on and even if the others are your foes, (get over it for the time being and) work together on the issues we all agree on.
I believe the reason we have all lost in the past is that they knew that we could not work together and they count on that alone. Well I for one say Bull, and we will work together. Let's show them that they do not know all they think they do,
All the petty bickering and picking on each other is the reason that this movement has gone NO WHERE. I believe that we can work together and pull this off and give the Government officials a showing that will create a difference.
I say "LET'S SHOW THEM WE ARE NOT HAPPY WITH WHAT THEY ARE DOING, IN A BIG WAY. AUG 18TH 2007 IN WASHINGTON D.C. .
