Are Elected Officials Fixtures like Doorknobs?

If I were face to face with officials like Vermont US Senator Patrick Leahy, I would ask if they are fixtures like doorknobs as their positions only seem ceremonial at this point. By the way Leahy helped author the Patriot Act and voted yes for the NDAA. Are these elected officials on the side of international organized crime and bankers, or we the people?

Their actions show who the elected officials are really for. No matter how many lies are told look at their actions, don't listen to or read their words for the true story. The true story [knocked on my door].
